All school bus riders must be registered to ride the buses before Monday, August 14. Registering your student before the August 14 deadline helps the transportation department plan efficient routes to get students to school and home in a timely manner. If your student is not registered before Monday, August 14, he or she will not be on the pick-up or drop-off schedule and will not be assigned a stop location or time. No new transportation requests will be accepted during the first two weeks of school. Bus registration will resume on Monday, September 4, and will take 48 hours to process. Free Summer Meals! TASD will be providing free meals to children age 18 and under. No need to sign up or apply-just show up and enjoy. Meals available Monday through Thursday starting June 5th until July 27th. Closed June 19th and July 4th. Meals will be served at: AHS Student Union and College Hill Pre-K Cafeteria. Is your child interested in playing football or being a cheerleader?
The Hogs Youth Sports Association is very excited to announce that we will be starting youth football for ages 5-12. The age cutoff date is September 1st. If you child turns 13 after September 1st, he will be eligible as a 12 year old. If you child is 5 before September 1st, he will also be eligible. He will be helping parents learn about the apps, parental controls, etc. A Q&A will follow. After Officer Munn finishes, our campus administrators will be holding our annual Title I meeting.
Read Across America is next week! This year, we are challenging students to branch out and try new genres. This week also kicks off our March Madness book competition!
During the first two weeks of March Madness, students will listen to two stories a day and vote on their favorite. These Sweet Sixteen titles will become the Elite Eight during Week 3, and a final campus winner will be declared after Spring Break!
Monday: If I Ran the Zoo - "Animals are neat, reading about them is a treat!"
Tuesday: Did I Every Tell You How Lucky You Are? - "It's not a mystery, read a book about history!"
Wacky Wednesday: "Read a book that makes you giggle and wiggle! Don't forget to dress wacky or tacky!"
Thursday: Dr. Seuss's The Sleep Book - "It's been a crazy few days, let's read in our PJ's"

The Texarkana Arkansas School District is accepting nominations for Distinguished Alumni for the 2022 - 2023 school year.
Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
The following criteria must be met to be designated Distinguished Alumni:
1. Must be recognized as having made outstanding contributions in business, professional, or vocational endeavors. 2. Must be a person of high moral character and integrity. 3. Must be an individual who recognizes and supports public education. 4. Must be a graduate of Arkansas High School, Washington High School, or North Heights High School.
